Escape to the World´s End

Ardnish, on the Road of the Isles near Fort William gives the opportunity to escape to remote and wild places with spectacular views just leaving absolutely everything behind you.

This excursion is a different experience for searchers of freedom and lost places, far away from anywhere.

The track will give you impressive views of the Scottish west coast, the Atlantic Ocean and the isles of Rum and Eigg. We'll learn about the geological formation of the Highlands, its wildlife and vegetation to understand the landscape around us, the way of life on the isles today and the 19th century land clearances. We’ll walk the tops of hills, throughout forests and beside a beautiful loch, formed by ancient glaciers.

Going to this wild place is one of the most magic and authentic experiences that Scotland can offer.



When?

Every SATURDAY.
Necessary to book if you wish to attend.

Start: 10 am at Lochailort car park on the road Fort William - Mallaig.

End: 4 pm at Lochailort car park on the road Fort William - Mallaig.



What's it necessary to bring?

Waterproof boots. Backpack with food and water/drinks. Warm clothes and a rainjacket.

How difficult is the route?

12 km. itinerary with medium difficulty. The track is rocky, muddy and/or wet at some parts, so good gear is important. This route shouldn’t be any problem for people with normal fitness level.

How to get Fort William?

By CAR from Edinburgh going to Stirling - Callander - Crianlarich - Glen Coe - Fort William - Lochailort (the last one on the road Fort William to Mallaig called the Road of the Isles)

By CAR from Glasgow going to Loch Lomond - Crianlarich - Glen Coe - Fort William - Lochailort (the last one on the road Fort William - Mallaig called the Road of the Isles).

By TRAIN Edinburgh - Glasgow - Fort William - Lochailort (http://www.scotrail.co.uk).


A good option is spend the night before in Fort William, then go to Lochailort the following morning.
